The female elk stared up at the statue. Tales said the creature lived in the world once upon a time, along with a flock of billions of its fellows. The elk wondered at a creature that could not grow its own coverings and had to depend on silkworms for it. How primitive, the elk thought, looking up at the rain shelter, for the creature couldn't even handle the rain without tools.
