How to Make My Kind of Satin Necklace Cord

This sort of necklace cord is, I think, pretty simple to make, but it takes a lot of time because glue is involved.

First, you'll need these materials:

Satin cord (I used 18")
Bead trays or another surface good for drying glue (suggestion: use bendable lids from plastic containers. Glue doesn't adhere to plastic lids, which is what you want.)
Glass bond glue or other strong glue (DO NOT use school glue or a hot glue gun)
End springs
Split ring pliers
Round nose pliers (optional)
Split rings
Clasps (I use lobster clasps)
Bead mat (optional)

1. Place a drop of strong glue inside an end spring. I use glass bond glue; it's strong and it works, though no glass is involved. DO NOT use school glue or hot glue guns (In the photo, tape is wrapped around the glue tube because the tube has holes).

2. Insert one end of the cord into the end spring. Repeat on the other end of the cord. Let dry.

3. Use split ring pliers to open a split ring.

4. Slip the end spring's loop into the opened split ring. If it's hard to hold the end spring with your fingers, hold it in place with a pair of round nose pliers.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the other end of the cord.
6. Pick up one end of the cord. Open the split ring with the split ring pliers and slip a clasp onto the opened split ring.

And you're done.
